Programme profile


The Architecture course at UCD offers a means to engage creatively and constructively with society. If you have a capacity and passion for creativity, for making things through technological invention or artistic experiment, and you are excited by the idea of designing buildings, urban environments and landscapes, then Architecture at UCD is the course for you.

Programme content


There are two main elements to the degree: project work (architectural design, drawing and model making) and lecture programmes (theoretical material).

Project work is taught in the design studios through a combination of lectures, individual tuition, field trips, group tutorials, large reviews and exhibitions.

The lecture programmes are grouped under the broad headings of Technical (Architectural Technologies, Structures, Environmental Science), Cultural (Architectural History & Theory, Ecology, Conservation) and Managerial (Professional Studies).

Entry Requirements


Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. The other subjects must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects must include: English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
